How we handle your stories
This is a test version of Jot Jot. Here is plainly what happens to what you tell it.
What we keep
Your stories, the original recordings, your photos, the journals you build, and, if you order a printed book, the shipping address for that order. That's it. We don't ask for your contacts, location, or anything else.
Who can see it
Only you. Stories are private by default. A story or journal is only visible to someone else if you turn on a share link or a voice link yourself, and you can turn it off anytime. Stories you mark Sacred / private can never be shared by link and never get a QR code in a printed book. If you send someone a question link, they see only that question and can record an answer into your journal; they can't see anything else in it. Turn a link off anytime.
The companies that help run it
- Supabase stores your stories, recordings, and photos (servers in the US).
- Cloudflare runs the website itself.
- Groq turns your recordings into text and helps write your story. If you start a story from a photo, Groq also looks at that photo to suggest questions. Groq says it doesn't keep this data by default, though it may hold it for up to 30 days to fix errors or investigate abuse.
- Brevo sends the app's emails (sign-in links, the weekly question if you turn it on, and legacy-access notices, and a note when someone answers a question you sent). It receives your email address and the email itself.
- Stripe handles payment if you order a book. We never see your card number.
- Lulu prints and ships your book. They receive the book files and your shipping address, only when you order.
What we never do
We don't sell your stories or your information. We don't show ads. There are no advertising trackers or analytics on this site. We don't use your stories to train AI.
You're in control
You can download everything (every story, recording, and photo) in one file anytime from your account page, and you can permanently delete your account there too.
If we ever shut down
We'll give you at least 90 days' notice, and “Download everything” will keep working that whole time, so every story, recording, and photo can go home with you.
Your account
You sign in with your email and a password, so your stories are there on any phone or computer. Your email is used to sign you in and, when you order a printed book, it goes to Stripe for your receipt and to the printer for shipping updates. While we're testing, accounts open right away without a confirmation email, so use an email address you own.
